Building Kotahitaka

Building Togetherness.

Building Kotahitaka means building togetherness.

Our four shared values are:

Aroha ki te tākata and Care for Papatūānuku

We are people first, and believe that building and strengthening people-centered relationships and practices must always come first. If people are taken care of, they will take care of the Earth Mother.

Manaakitaka

At our heart are mana-enhancing decision-making and practices which uphold the dignity of and respect for every person, including those who do not vote. Basic human rights such as the right to quality housing, adequate food, security and stability should be upheld and can no longer be commodities.

Care for and Protection of all our Tamariki and Rakatahi/Taiohi

Full and equitable investment in all our babies, children, and young people is urgently needed. We need to be making mokopuna decisions – those which will benefit seven generations ahead. This must be our “business as usual”.

O le ala i le pule o le tautua

The path to leadership is service. It is collective and collaborative service that must urgently effect systemic change across Ōtepoti Dunedin.
